was one of the 10 new members inducted into the Canadian Collegiate
Athletic Association Hall of Fame 
on June 6th in Abbotsford, BC.


Danielle Hyde (nee Gaudet), a four-time Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association All-Canadian in
Women’s Volleyball, has been inducted into the Athlete Category of the CCAA Hall of Fame.

Hyde is one of the most decorated student-athletes to ever play in the PACWEST. The former
Malaspina (now Vancouver Island University) Mariners setter was the first athlete in any sport,
male or female, to be awarded four straight CCAA All-Canadian awards.

makes 2017 Canadian National Indoor team

Dani Smith made the 2017 National Indoor Women's Volleyball team after one of the largest
selection camps ever. The selection camp wrapped up on May 12, with new head coach Marcello
Abbondanza assigning 24 players to the roster. Dani has been a part of the national team system
since 2012, and plays some professional volleyball overseas.

makes history with first ever FIVB world Beach Volleyball Gold

 Jamie Broder played three years with the Mariners (back then Malaspina), winning provincial titles in 2003-04 and 2005-06. At the national level Jamie won a bronze in 06 and a silver in 04, before going on to play two years at UBC, winning a national title in 2008. Read more

to school to become a lawyer.
