VIU Men's basketball finished up the season with a road win in Victoria over Island rival Camosun, 82-63. That brings the league schedule to an end with the M's finishing on top of the BCCAA, with a record of 17-1.

Friday nights contest had a playoff type feel to it, with a hostile environment. The M's came out ready to roll and jumped out to an early lead, that they would never relinquish, despite a fiesty effort from Camosun. The halftime score was 46-28 VIU. We did a very nice job attacking in transition and playing an inside out game. The only set back was the fact we just could not knock in wide open looks. Wohlers, Schat and Tollbom had several good looks and just could not get it to drop. Just one of those nights, however I like our chances if teams are going to leave those 3 open on a regular basis. There were five players in double figures, led by Kaban with 21. I really liked the performance of Olsen and Tollbom off the bench, both chipping in with 12.  Thom had 12 and 8 boards, while McCarthy added 10.

I liked our effort for the most part, however there are a couple areas we will need to clean up over the next couple weeks. I thought our rebound/loose ball pursuit lacked, as well as our communication on the defensive end of the floor.  Both led to easy buckets for Camosun and that just can not happen in the playoffs.
