Mariner women went to the mainland to play the 5th and 11th ranked teams in Canada, needing to get get results as VIU is in a tight race in PackWest's Pool B, Saturday vs Langara the Mariners got of to a slow start, for the second game in a row VIU went down 1-0 in the 1st minute of play, keeper Shelby Walker made a great diving save but the rebound was tucked away by a Falcon player. Jolene Nagy on a nifty pass from Mariah Robinson tied it up in the 25th minute of play, freshman  Jessica Burma would give the Mariners a 2-1 lead 10 minutes later, Burma almost scored again from the same spot but this time shot over the net, Halftime VIU 2, Langara 1

VIU continued on the attack and should have been awarded a penalty shot after Jolene Nagy was taken down from behind in the box, Burma almost gave Mariners a two goal cushion when she one timed a brilliant Robinson cross that went just over the bar, with less than 10 minutes left Lagara found some space down the wing and the cross was put away to tie the match at two, Falcons would take the lead three minutes later on a long shot, VIU almost tied it when Mary Shaw passed back to Sarah Meredith, with the keeper out of position the shot was going into the empty net until a Langara player stuck out the arm to deflect it wide, VIU again was unlucky not to get a PK.

VIU travelled to Squamish to take on 11th ranked Quest who was sitting in first place in PackWest Pool B, Mariners came out firing and were unlucky not score, Sam Rodgers, Mariah Robinson, Sarah Meredith had chances in a scramble off a VIU corner, Robinson would have two more quality chances to give VIU the lead, Quest keeper gave up a rebound on which Robinson got to first but her shot was saved by the goalie and again just missed getting to the ball on the far post when the net was empty, Mariners would take the lead in the 22nd minute, Jessica Burma beat two defenders in the box and was chopped down from behind, resulting in a PK, Jolene Nagy stepped up and slotted it home, Quest almost tied the match just before halftime but Mariners keeper Shelby Walker made a great fingertip save.

Halftime VIU 1, Quest 0

Second half started with Mariners having some good chances, Burma had the best chance when her shot was stopped by the Quest keeper when it looked like it was going in, Quest in desperation moved some players forward in the last ten minutes of the match to tie it up and had couple good chances but shot wide.

Final VIU 1, Quest 0

"We played a great first half where we took the game to them and should have been up by couple more, Quest only had one real good scoring chance in the first half, defensively we stayed patient and it paid off, last ten minutes were a bit scary but we'll take the three points and move back into playoff spot, we have Cap next at home, they are one point behind us so the players don't need to be told how important that game is, Jessica Burma is starting to get comfortable at the university level and showing why we recruited her heavily, two more freshmen Sam Rodgers and Sarah Meredith are also starting to play some great soccer for us, Burma and Meredith have been sick or injured for most of the year are now just getting healthy, we are still not at full strength as we had to leave behind Emma Johansson and Melissa Orton due to sickness and Jessie Weninger nursing a knee injury, Mariah and Steph Dean have really stepped up their games"
