November 20th, 2011

After a solid weekend of competition VIU Mariners have been rewarded with three PACWEST athlete of the week honors. In Men's Volleyball Milo Warren, Women's Basketball Shayna Worthington and in Women's Volleyball Leanna Gildersleeve.

This could very likely be a record ...three in one week !!

VIU Men's Volleyball Player of the week

Milo Warren has been nominated for Pacwest player of the week !!
In the Friday night's match, Milo was almost unstoppable with 17 kills in 3 sets against the Capilano Blues. His hitting percentage was a massive 82% efficiency and in the first set he hammered down 8 kills with only 1 error. He was a huge factor in both matches this weekend. He finshed the weekend with great numbers; 31 kills, 7 digs, 2 blocks and 2 aces.  Milo continues to bring strong veteran leadership and over the past month of season this leadership has started to rub off on our entire team. Milo's incredible athletic ability makes him one of the most dominating players in the league and now that his consistency has reached allstar levels he will be a huge impact player for the Mariners. With Milo and the Mariners having another strong weekend with 2 more wins their season record is now 9-1 and are holding down top spot in the PACWEST.

VIU Women's Basketball player of the week
