The VIU Mariners Men’s Volleyball Program is in the process of recruiting and preparing for the 2013-14 season. The VIU Mariners Men’s Varsity Volleyball Program will be hosting an Identification Camp on Sunday January 13, 2013 to evaluate and meet possible future Mariner Athletes. The ID Camp is an excellent way for athletes interested in continuing their volleyball careers and connecting with the Mariner Program.

Vancouver Island University's basketball teams completed the first half of their schedules in pretty good positions in the standings. The VIU Mariners men's team (6-2) won one of its two games on the weekend, defeating the Columbia Bible College Bearcats 77-64 on Friday before falling 76-74 to the Kwantlen Eagles on Saturday.

A fourth-quarter comeback escaped the Vancouver Island Mariners men's basketball team on Saturday. The men (6-2) fell in an upset 76-74 to the Kwantlen Eagles (35) in PacWest basketball play at VIU on Saturday during their last game of 2012. The women (54) put up back-to-back victories by defeating the Eagles 61-52.

The Vancouver Island University men's Mariners volleyball team walked away with two victories this weekend. The men's team (10-6; 23-16) defeated the University of Fraser Valley Cascades 3-1 on Saturday, completing their sweep of the visiting team in PacWest volleyball play at VIU. The women's team (8-2; 25-6) dropped their second game of the year against UFV, losing 3-1.
