VIU's 4th Year, Middle Blocker, Lee Hamilton put together 2 of the best matches the BCCAA/PACWEST has ever had over the past weekend at the College of the Rockies. He was absolutely unstoppable in both matches combining for 59 total points over the weekend. Lee finished the weekend with a mind boggling kill percentage of 87.7%. During Friday night's match after losing the first 2 sets, Lee literally put the Mariners on his back and played one of the most memoriable and productive final 3 sets a VIU middle blocker ever has. He finished the night with 23 kills, 3 blocks and 4 digs. Of his 23 kills, 17 came in the last 3 sets. The Mariners fell short on Friday losing in 5.VIU's Head Coach Abe Avender felt this loss, gave Lee and the Mariners even more incentive to come back on Saturday to salvage a 1 and 1 split on the road.

On Saturday the Mariners came out with much better energy and Lee picked up right where he left off on Friday. After the incredible offensive impact Lee had on Friday night, he was even more determined to make more of a defensive impact. HIs blocking and defensive efforts during Saturday's match were incredible, he finished the 4 set match with 12 blocks and 3 digs. Along with his massive blocking prowess his offense continued to explode with 21 more kills, which led the Mariners to a 4 set victory to go 15-3 on the season. Lee's final stats for the weekend speak and his ability to take over a match has become a huge factor in the Mariners success this season. He finished the weekend with 44 kills, 15 blocks, and 7 digs. For a middle blocker to dominate like this, Lee would be the first to credit his fellow Mariners for their quality serve receive and passing to allow our setters to get him the ball. For as good as his stats were, his leadership and 'give me the ball' attitude was a pleasure to be apart of. The Mariners will hope to continue their winning ways in their next matches on the road against the Capilano Blues.
