VIU Mariners Men's Soccer split the games over the weekend. Saturday with a 1-0 victory over Kwantlin Collage and a 3-1 loss on Sunday to Douglas Collage.

Saturday it was Mateo Kostering doing the scoring for VIU,Kostering in his second season with the Mariners is make a big impact for his team this season with two winning goals in as many weeks. Kostering also contributing in other ways both with offense and has been a strong defensive help to the the Mariners.

Sunday the mariners jumped out to a quick lead with some good ball movement, Ben Robson with the cross that found Keegan Lang, Lang then put a header past the Douglas Collage Keeper. things looked good for the Mariners as the applied some pressure and continued to move the ball around against a very skilled Douglas Collage team. Then things started to go the other direction as the Mariners took some bad penalties and Douglas was able to tie the game on a Penalty Kick from the spot.the momentum switch and Douglas Collage was able to score one more to end the half with a 2-1 lead,if not for a couple big saves by Mariners the score could have been 1 or 2 more for Douglas.

The 2nd half was better with the Mariners applying pressure while playing with more urgency. Late in the game the Mariners were awarded a free kick and pushed everyone forward to try for the equalizer, but the ball went to Douglas keeper and they were able to score on a quick counter attack. Final score 3-1 Douglas.
