Saturday:

Mariners came out firing on all cylinders and almost took the lead when a Ceilidh Glennie low shot hit the goal post in the 2nd minute of play, three minutes later VIU would take the lead again from a Glennie shot that beat the Douglas keeper. 15 minutes later the Royals would tie the match, two Mariner defenders ran into each other leaving Pacwest leading scorer Danae Harding alone in front and she made no mistake in tying the match up, it was tied 1-1 at the half.

Mariners came wave after wave and created chance after chance but the post, crossbar or the Royals keeper would deny them that precious second goal. Douglas would get the go ahead goal in the 79th minute on one of their rare attacks in the second half, Harding again tipped a low shot into the net. Douglas would hold for the 2-1 victory. "sometimes life is cruel and this was one of those days, we definitely controlled the match and could have had 4 or 5 goals  alone in the second half with the quality of chances we had, lot of girls stepped up today. I really like how our first year players played, Maddy Dawson was fantastic, Darby Cronan was solid, Glennie was unlucky not to get couple more, Bronte, Jill Kelly, Carli Rey were a nightmare for their defenders"

Sunday:

VIU scored in the second minute, two freshman hooked up, Maddy Dawson beat couple of defenders and crossed the ball to Maddy Leigh who made no mistake to put the Mariners up 1-0. Midway through the first half VIU would make it 2-0, Bronte Fitzsimmons corner would land on the head of Carli Rey, it would stay that way until halftime.

Second half started like the first, VIU would score in the 47th minute, Katie Rodgers would get her first of the year from a Jill Kelly cross. VIU would make it 4-0 on a free kick laser from Sam Rodgers in the 80th minute, free kick was result of a red card to the Kwantlen keeper who handled the ball outside the box on a Jess Burma breakaway. "I really like the mental state of this team, we lost a tough one yesterday, lots of players were good today, Jill Kelly had her best game as a Mariner, Bronte was again involved in lot of our offense and showed why she is one of the best players in Pacwest. I really liked our defense today and for me Shelby Walker is the best keeper in the league, she made two top class saves today while Carli Rey, Sharin Kang, Dawson and Kelly dominated the midfield, we're getting better and better each game, we can still improve though as we move into the crucial part of our schedule"
