Men’s Basketball
This past weekend the Mariners hosted the Douglas College Royals and Langara College Falcons in two tough home games. Fifth-year guard Harrison Stupich (Cedar, BC) had an excellent weekend in the two big wins. Harrison is a team captain and has been an excellent leader for the Mariners on and off the court. On Friday versus the Royals, Harrison did an excellent job finding shooters and communicating defensively in order to help slow the Royals hot shooting. Harrison finished the game with seven points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals as the Mariners went on to win 91-61. On Saturday, the Mariners hosted the Langara College Falcons in a battle for first place in the league, and the season series, as each team had a previous win. Harrison had 20 points and three rebounds and hit timely shots as the Mariners went on to defeat the Falcons 82-67. "Harrison did an excellent job closing out on shooters, sorting out any defensive confusion and helping our team flow into offence," said Mariners Assistant Coach Avneet Brar. "A lot of the great things Harrison did may not show up on the stat sheet but were pivotal to our team’s collective success. Boxing out, moving the ball and communicating non-stop are three things Harrison did exceptionally well to help our team pick up the two wins."
