Former 5th year VIU Mariner Dani Smith is off to Michoacan, Mexico with the Canadian women’s Indoor Volleyball National Team.  The team is competing in the NORCECA Women’s Continental Championship Olympic Qualification tournament from Sept.25-Oct.3rd. This is Dani’s 2nd full year with The National team. This tournament will prove to be an important one for both Dani and the National team. Dani will be given the starting setting role in one of the most important times for the National team. The tournament is the last qualification event for our Women to make the Olympic Games in Rio next year. The Canadian squad are in a very strong pool consisting of the United States, Costa Rica and Cuba.

Dani has been a member of our Women’s National Indoor Volleyball team ever since graduating from Vancouver Island University. During her time at VIU she won 2 PACWEST titles and captured a CCAA Silver and a Gold on home court in 2012. In her off time with the National team Dani has been playing Professional Volleyball. Last year she played in Germany and this season will be playing in Denmark. Good luck to Dani and the rest of our Women’s National Volleyball team!

This weekend at the VIU gym the VIU women's volleyball team is in action on Friday vs UFV at 4pm and Camosun at 8pm, Saturday vs UFV at 12 and Cap at 4pm ... Go Mariners !!
