VIU 4, Holland 1
In the first half, Chloe Gummer opens the scoring for the Mariners in the 4th minute of play of the 7 vs. 8 placement game.
Teammate Nicole Foglietta increased her team’s lead in the 14th minute before Jacqulyn Sudsbury strikes back for Holland in the 20th minute on a penalty shot.
But, Gummer restores the three-goal lead by beating goalkeeper Nicole McInnis with her second of the game in the 40th minute. Gummer would then complete the hat-trick in the dying seconds of the first half.
Players of the Game were Chloe Gummer (VIU), Katherine Drake (Holland College).
NAIT 2, VIU 1
The first half begins with an energetic start by both teams, followed by an on-target shot from Marissa Webb, giving NAIT the lead in the 7th minute. Then the Ooks diversified offensive play results in a goal by Kassy Jajczay.
During the second half, VIU scores with on accurate shot from Kaylee Dodds in the 50th minute. The Mariners strikers try to even the score but goalkeeper Kailey Harder fends off all attempts to as NAIT holds on for the victory.
Players of the Game were Sidney Doblanko (NAIT) and Kaylee Dodds (VIU).
Ahuntsic 1, VIU 0
Despite good offensive breakthroughs on either side, neither team could muster any offence in the opening half.
In the second half, multiple subsitutions were made to bring in fresh troops. In the 82nd minute, it was Sara Dussault of the Indiennes who broke through and beat goalkeeper Emily Rowbotham to give the host team the victory.
Players of the Game were Anik Lever (Ahuntsic) and Harrop Malli (VIU).
