MBBALL in Portland

December 18th, 2016

The trip for the men's basketball team to Portland was a difficult one from the start. A snow storm on Thursday almost cancelled the games !!

"We travelled to Portland missing 4 of our top 7 players who had to stay behind because of exams or who were unable to compete due to injury.  On Friday vs Warner Pacific we went down early as we really struggled shooting the basketball.  We were never able to get the score close again.

"On Saturday vs Concordia, we were able to shoot the ball better helping us keep the game tight in the first half.  Usama Zaid fouled out early in the second half when the game was still within ten points.  Following that Concordia was able to build their lead up.  I was proud of how our guys competed and carried themselves in two tough games when we were really undermanned."

Jalen Sclegel had 20pts vs Warner and 22pts in the Concordia game, leading the Mariners in both games.

Next up, probably a few exams to write, then a little down time to rest and energize for the second half.
