VIU 79 Camosun 64

VIU didn't play with a sense of urgency and Camosun got up big early.  The team managed to cut the lead to 4 at the half and played must better in the latter part of the 3rd quarter and all of the 4th quarter. Victoria Brown was outstanding all night dominated the glass and playing great defense. She continues to get better every week.

Another performance where the M's didn't play well at the start but managed to do enough to win.  While Sienna Pollard didn't shoot well, she did many other things that helped VIU get the win.  Celina Guadagni and Victoria Brown both played very well and provided the much needed energy all night.

Men's Basketball

Thursday night VIU defeated the Camosun College Chargers in a tough road win. The Mariners were led by the outstanding play of Forward Jalen Schlegel. Jalen totalled 27 points, 13 Rebounds and 3 assists in 26 minutes of play. We did a nice job of sticking together and playing as a unit on the road. Facing a box and 1 Zone from Camosun in an attempt to contain Usama Zaid, the team moved the ball around and was able to have success with cutting to the rim.

Friday Night VIU defeated the Columbia Bible College Bearcats. A much better job of pushing the tempo and continuing with unselfish play. Final score of the game was 96-73. Usama Zaid led the way with 34 Points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 Steals in 26 minutes of play. A great team effort on this night as everyone got to play with the lowest minute getter being at 16 Minutes and everyone scoring a basket. Comments by Assistant Coach Avneet Brar
