PACWEST Golf Tournament

September 10th, 2017

PACWEST golf starts this weekend in Kelowna hosted by UBC Okanagan. Our VIU Mariners hit the road early Friday morning with a talented group of golfers.
2017 Men's golf will be headed by returning players- Jacob Bland and Tony Trozzo.  Tony is coming off a successful summer schedule that included playing the BC Amateur Tournament and the Canadian Amateur tournament as well.  Jacob was able to defend his title at the Sunshine Coast Men's Amateur Tournament.
Newcomers to the team - Taylor Henderson, who previously played in 2015 is back for another season.  Taylor most recently finished 4th overall at the Nanaimo Men's Amateur Tournament with a three round score of 3 over par.  Taylor also competed in the BC Amateur Tournament this summer as well.
New to the team is Rookie Wyatt Brook.  Wyatt Brook this past summer was recognized as the top junior golfer in Zone 2 (Kamloops/Kelowna).  His top junior golfer ranking earned him a spot in the Mackenize Tour of Canada Event Profesional Golf Event in Kelowna.  A second round 74 proved that he has what it takes to be a successful varsity athlete.
2017 Women's golf will be a team loaded full of rookies.  All three members of the team will be making their PACWEST debuts this season.  All three have moved here recently from Ontario to make our roster replacing our only female golfer from last season, who also hails from Ontario.
"The team has tons of potential and hopefully we can get to see some of that potential come to light in our first event" comments Head Coach Kevin Oates
