Sydney Fetterly a VIU Mariner

February 25th, 2018

Coach Tony Bryce and the VIU Women's Basketball team are thrilled to welcome Sydney Fetterly to the Mariner family. Fetterly is an 5'6" off-guard and league all-star for the recent Fraser Valley champion, Abbotsford Panthers. She was also just ranked as one of the top 20 graduating players in the province by BC Hoop Scoop.

"I am so excited to add Sydney to our program. She is exactly what I am looking for as we continue to develop a culture of excellence both on and off the court. She is a young lady of extremely high character, a top academic student, and a quality player who is committed to being the best she can be. On the court, she can score and shoot the ball, but more importantly she does so many of the little things right...she's a gamer. Coming from the Fraser Valley, Sydney plays in the most challenging Sr. girls league in the province. She is extremely well coached (Prentice Lenz) and has played is so many tough games during her successful high school career, which I feel will benefit her in the transition to post secondary ball. She was a AAA provincial finalist in 2017, and the Panthers +are in a position to take another shot at the title this year. Just a fantastic all-around addition to our program and a great start to the 2018 recruiting class."
