WOMEN

VIU-3 Capilano-1

VIU struck first Saturday, with two quick goals, both by Chloe Gummer around the 8 minute mark. Justine McMahon added another near the 23rd minute. Up 3-0 going into the 2nd half, Mariners held on to win 3-1. "We've been working on finishing chances for weeks now so get 3 in the first 25 was pleasing to see.  Possession was excellent and we threatened continually. Cap provided some uncertain moments in the second half and fought bravely." says Kevin Lindo, Head Coach VIU women's Soccer

VIU-1 Douglas-0

Sunday was a much different game vs Douglas, no goals until extra time when Chloe Gummer notched her 3rd goal of the weekend and the game winner. "We were exceptional from start to finish. We met them physically and never allowed them to get comfortable We worked on many things that clicked over the weekend superb goal at the end credit to the players they fully deserve to enjoy this weekend!" comments Kevin

 

MEN

VIU-0 Capilano-3 

"We played a very good first half, created some chances on the counter attack but could not score. Goalkeeper Evan Carr made a big penalty kick save in the first half.  Capilano scored twice in the second half to seal the win." Says Coach Larry Stefanek.


VIU-3 Douglas-4

Douglas scored two early goals in the first half before Shun Takano scored on a penalty kick set up by Hussein Behery and Taylor Arbour. Douglas led 3-1 at the half and scored a fourth early in the second half. VIU fought back as Taylor Arbour scored twice to cut the lead to 4-3.  The Mariners presses but could not equalize, good second half by VIU.
