PACWEST Provincial Volleyball Championships

On Thursday the VIU Men's Volleyball team will take on the Douglas College Royals in the Quarterfinals of the 2014 PACWEST Provincial Championships hosted in North Vancouver at the Capilano Sportsplex. The men's quaterfinals will be played at 3pm Women's Semi-final will be played Friday ... VIU will be the #1 seed !!

Volleyball ID Camp - Men's

The VIU Mariners Men’s Volleyball Program is in the process of recruiting and preparing for the 2014-15 season. The VIU Mariners Men’s Varsity Volleyball Program will be hosting an Identification Camp on Sunday February 9, 2014 to evaluate and meet possible future Mariner Volleyball Athletes. The ID Camp is an excellent way for athletes interested in continuing their volleyball careers and connecting with the Mariner Program.

In the first half of the Pacific Western Athletic Association season, the Vancouver Island University Mariners men's volleyball team looked like anything but a first place club. But after sweeping the Capilano University Blues in Nanaimo this weekend, they jumped into a share of the lead with the Columbia Bible College Bearcats with 20 points.

Zach Grigg PACWEST Athlete of the Week

Zach Grigg, VIU's 2nd Year Left Side started 2014 off right where he left off in 2013. He had an outstanding weekend against the Douglas College Royals. The Mariners’ left side attacker put together two great matches over the weekend at home to kick off the second semester. His ability to score throughout both matches help the Mariners earn a well deserved split over the weekend. Zach finished with a combined 43 total offensive points over the weekend.

Team Canada - Lee Hamilton Feature NDN

Lee Hamilton was one of the most dominant middles in the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association the last couple of years, now he is tying to prove he belongs amongst the best players in Canada while trying to crack the national team. The 23-year-old Regina native was a two-time all-Canadian with the Vancouver Island University Mariners the last two seasons. He graduated as a fifth year senior and this fall caught on with the Volleyball Canada Full-Time Training Centre in Gatineu, Que.

Mariners dominate UFV

The Vancouver Island University Mariners women's volleyball team went into the Christmas break in style, sweeping the top ranked team in the country. The Mariners followed up their 3-0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-17) win over the University of Fraser Valley Cascades on Friday with another 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-21) win on Saturday, to take over first place in the Pacific Western Athletic Association.

Dillon Collett, VIU Mariners, 5th year, Right side attacker has put together a number of huge weekends statistically as well as with his ability to lead on and off the court this season. Dillon has been able to use his 5 years of PACWEST volleyball experience to put together some fabulous all round matches over the season thus far. He has been an extremely valuable asset for the Mariners on both sides of the ball this Season.
