To Be A Mariner

What does it mean to be a Mariner? Beyond simply donning a jersey on game night, making the buzzer-beater shot to win the game, or cheering from the stands, what are the values and cultural tones being transmitted by the program? Ask the players, coaches, and fans, and they’ll tell you it’s the prioritizing of three things: academics, athletics, and community engagement.


Alumni Hatch and Broder win Nationals

It’s a story involving summer, sand, sports and love. About the only thing missing is a Beach Boys tune. Not only did two of the best beach volleyball players from the Island — Maverick Hatch and Olympian Jamie Broder — win the respective Canadian men’s and women’s championships Sunday in North Bay, Ont., but they will be married Sept. 30 in Cordova Bay.


Rosenlund goes pro in Europe

After five outstanding years with the Vancouver Island University Mariners women’s volleyball program, Megan Rosenlund is off to play pro in Europe.
