Congratulations to Kaiden Thorpe and Thomas Greze-Kozuki: Vancouver Island University soccer athletes of the week!
 
Thorpe has been unbeatable in PACWEST play so far this season with five shutouts over four wins and a tie. She added two more starts and two more shutouts to her totals in the fourth week of the season by blanking the second-place Langara Falcons 3-0 and holding the fort with three saves in a 0-0 draw at third-place Douglas. Kaiden is a key part of VIU's leadership core and her confidence in net has propelled her to the top of the goalkeeping stats and propelled the Mariners to the top of the conference table.
 
Greze-Kozuki started both games in the center of the Mariners backline on the road this weekend and put in two excellent performances with big minutes against the top-ranked offense of the Falcons—including a quarter of the game while down a man—and in a crucial Sunday win over the Royals. In that win, VIU's first goal came moments after Greze-Kozuki headed away a dangerous Douglas cross, leading to a VIU break back up the field and a Charlie Smith goal.

Head coach Kevin Lindo said Greze-Kozuki has been a "great leader and a positive influence on the lads" this season and has helped the Mariners remain in the hunt for a postseason spot.
