Men's Basketball Recruits: Noah Lehto & Zekun (Peter) Li
Two transfers from championship programs arrive to bolster the Mariners roster
NANAIMO - VIU Mariners men's basketball is proud to fill out the 2022-23 roster with two transfers: 6'6" forward Noah Lehto and 6'1" guard Zekun (Peter) Li.
Noah Lehto enters his third year of CCAA eligibility after spending two seasons with the SAIT Trojans (ACAC). In 2021-22, Lehto appeared in 11 games--starting in five--and averaged 3.1 points-per-game and pulled down 3.5 rebounds per game, primarily on the defensive end. That year, the Trojans won the ACAC championship and took the eventual national champion Humber Hawks to overtime in the CCAA semifinal.
Lehto will be studying management and arts courses at VIU.
Zekun (Peter) Li begins his CCAA career after spending 2019-22 with the Dalhousie Tigers (U SPORTS). As he was a red shirt (didn't use eligibility) in his first year and his second year was struck from the record due to the COVID pandemic, Li arrives at VIU officially in his second year of collegiate basketball eligibility. In 2021-22, the Tigers earned a third-straight AUS championship and finished fifth at the U SPORTS Final 8 Championship.
Li, who also played with Basketball BC youth programs, is enrolled in the Recreation and Sport Management Diploma program at VIU.
Welcome to the Mariners famly, Noah and Zekun!
