Weekend Preview: Island Rivalry
The top teams in the conference offer up a gift matchup before the holiday break
Nanaimo, BC - Island Rivalry games between VIU and Camosun have produced incredible battles throughout the years. Basketball fans can rightly expect two more great games this weekend as the highly-ranked Mariners and Chargers meet up at VIU for the first time this season.
Who, When and Where
- VIU Mariners (8-2, CCAA-ranked #4, first in the PACWEST) vs Camosun Chargers (7-3, CCAA-ranked #14, second in the PACWEST)
- Friday, November 28 at the VIU Gymnasium, 8 pm
- Saturday, November 29 at the VIU Gymnasium, 3 pm

Games are streamed on the VIU Mariners Athletics YouTube page. Friday's livesteam will be produced by Rogers TV Nanaimo.
Watch Out Now
Camosun: David Finch was named PACWEST men's basketball player of the week last week. He is leading the conference in rebounding and sits tenth in points per game (16).
VIU: Kye Kotapski-Tinga is averaging 19.4 points per game--good for third in the PACWEST. Ekman Sohal has been a sharpshooter through the fall semester and leads the conference in three-point percentage (52.5%) and is second in field-goal percentage (56.5%).
Holiday Cheer
Fans receive free admission if they bring a new unwrapped toy, book, or game. All donations will be given to The Great Nanaimo Toy Drive.
