VIU aims to put some distance from Douglas in the conference standings
With six games remaining, the third-place Mariners (3 W, 3 L) will try to keep their lead on the fourth-place Royals (1 W, 5 L) in the conference standings.

- Saturday, September 28 and Sunday, September 29 at Q'unq'inuqwstuxw Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on both days.

Head-To-Head
VIU defeated Douglas 2-1 in Coquitlam on September 14--their only meeting of the season so far. Kenneth Jolliffe and Charlie Smith scored for the Mariners while the Royals got one back late from Sepher Irvani.
The last matchup between VIU and Douglas in Nanaimo was a big one: the Royals outlasted the Mariners in penalty kicks to take the PACWEST championship in October 2023. Both teams advanced to the CCAA Men's Soccer National Championship, hosted by St. Clair College in Ontario. The Royals defeated Conestoga College for the national title.
Wear Orange on Sunday
Fans are encouraged to wear orange for Sunday's match as we recognize the upcoming National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (Monday, September 30).
Watch Out Now
Douglas's Matteo Falcone is the only Royal with more than one goal, but he will miss Saturday's game due to suspension. Fifth-years Justin Pena and Ben Beaulieu will serve as anchors for the Douglas midfield and defense. VIU will counter with central defender/midfielder Louis Goldbrunner, the reigning PACWEST men's soccer athlete of the week, and forward Charlie Smith, who sits second in the conference with four goals.
