Weekend series is massive with Mariners and Blues tied at 13-3
NORTH VANCOUVER - The Mariners and Capilano Blues both sit with 13-3 records with eight games remaining in the regular season. A sweep in this weekend's matchup would put the victorious team in the driver's seat for a top-two finish and a quarterfinal bye in the provincial championship.

Head-To-Head
The Mariners won two home games against Capilano in November: a 63-53 win where four VIU starters scored in double-digits, led by 13 from Sammy Shields; and a 62-47 win sparked by Kaia Simpson's 17 points on 7 of 9 shooting.
VIU has won three of four games in 2026 while Capilano has two wins over the Camosun Chargers. The Blues were also credited with two wins by forfeit over the Okanagan Coyotes when the Coyotes were unable to field a complete roster.

Capilano: Forward Maddy Coffin is the PACWEST's leading scorer at 17.9 points per game. Teammate Barcha Hnizdilova is not far behind at 13.6 points per game.
VIU: The top three VIU point-getters are Sammy Shields (9.9 ppg), Trista Thorn (9.3 ppg), and Kiayra Hohlweg (9.1 ppg). Point guard Mackenzie Cox leads in court time at 27.2 minutes per game.
