NANAIMO - The VIU defense continued its rock solid ways by holding the visiting Langara Falcons to three shot attempts (two on target) in a 2-0 VIU win at Harewood Centennial Park.
The Mariners set the tone early and were rewarded with a Jada Kamerman goal in the 7th minute. From midfield, Emma Thornton saw space down the centre of pitch and fed a perfectly weighted through-ball for Kamerman to run on to. Kamerman outraced the defender and calmy dodged the Langara keeper to deposit the ball into the net.
Kamerman had a hand in the second VIU goal. She took a corner kick that was met perfectly in the air by Hannah Wagner at the back post. Wagner's header put VIU up 2-0 and would be the final goal of the day.
VIU goalkeeper Kaiden Thorpe earned the win and remained undefeated on the season. Wagner was named VIU's Country Club Dairy Queen Player of the Game.
