Undefeated at The Half
Mariners earn a win and a tie in Week #3, have 3 wins and 3 ties at the midway point of the season
With six games down and six to go in the 2024 PACWEST regular season, VIU women's soccer is in second place in the conference and undefeated with three wins and three ties.
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21: VIU 1 - Capilano 1
Lillooet Park, North Vancouver, B.C.
Box Score
For the second time this season, the Mariners and Blues played to a draw as second half goals from each team resulted in a 1-1 score.
The Mariners were unlucky to not be ahead in the first half after bringing considerable offensive pressure. VIU launched 11 shots toward the Capilano net in the half while the Blues responded with only one.

Things turned in the 65th minute as VIU goalkeeper Kaiden Thorpe was issued a red card after a slide tackle on a Capilano break. Thorpe kicked the ball away but upended the Capilano player on the follow-through.
With backup 'keeper Mckenna Brown out of the lineup, VIU subbed in its third goalkeeper to see action this season, Brooke Ingram. It didn't take long for Capilano to capitalize as Sasha Feris hit a perfectly-placed long shot that just eluded Ingram for a 1-0 Blues lead.
However, Ingram would not allow another shot by her, and the Mariners bore down. In the 79th minute, Mariners forward Jade Dillabough displayed incredible speed as she outraced three Capilano defenders from just over the centre line to the Blues goal and placed a perfect low shot to the right corner of the net.
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 22: VIU 2 - Langara 0
Willoughby Park, Langley, B.C.
VIU improved to 3-0 versus Langara this year after a 2-0 road win at Willoughby Park.
Defender Mya Creed opened the scoring in the 20th minute. After a VIU corner kick bounced off of players in front of the Langara net, Creed took possession to the right of the goal, spun around, and fired a looping shot that went over the heads of the players gathered in front and sailed into the back corner of the net.
VIU doubled the advantage in the 54th minute. A rush down the right wing resulted in a shot that bounced off the left goalpost and hit forward Tori Hauptman, who was following up on the play. With her back to the net, Hauptman back-heeled the bouncing ball into the wide-open net for the 2-0 lead.
Goalkeeper Brooke Ingram earned the shutout and the win in her first PACWEST start.
