LANGLEY, BC - Six days after the Mariners suffered their first loss ofthe season, VIU got back into the win column with a 3-0 victory over an injury-depleted Langara side.
In their previous meeting, VIU and Langara were nil-nil at the half until VIU exploded for three goals in the second frame. In this game, VIU built up a lead in the first half. Goals from Mary Huggill--who scored mere steps from the goal line following a bout of chaos in front of the Langara net--and Emma Thornton, who finished off a beautiful setup from Jada Kamerman with an arcing shot into the top left corner, paced the Mariners to a 2-0 lead at the half.
In the sixty-sixth minute, Kamerman got on the scoreboard herself as she was wide open on the far side of the net and tapped in a Jade Dillabough pass.
Kaiden Thorpe made her fourth start of the season and earned her fourth win and fourth shutout.
