National Semifinal: Lynx d'Édouard-Montpetit 3, Vancouver Island University Mariners 2
The first national semifinal delivered another dramatic five-set battle, as the Lynx d'Édouard-Montpetit defeated the Vancouver Island University Mariners (24-26, 25-23, 20-25, 25-15, 15-10). Trailing 1-0 and again 2-1 in sets, the Lynx responded with strong defensive play and effective net presence, recording more than twice the blocks than VIU.
Marilou Robichaud was named the Lynx Player of the Game after a dominant performance at the net, finishing with six blocks, seven kills, and four service aces while hitting at a .429 efficiency. Sophie Tatasciore led all players offensively with 17 kills, while Melody Lahaie anchored the defence with 16 digs. Setter and All-Canadian Marilou Durocher facilitated the offence with 47 assists.
For the Mariners, Regan Ingram earned the VIU Player of the Game honours after leading her team with 16 kills while adding three blocks and nine digs. Grace Brisebois contributed 15 kills and a strong defensive effort with 22 digs, while setter Edan Wiebe recorded 39 assists.
Vancouver Island University will face the Mount Allison Mounties in the bronze semifinal on Friday at 6 p.m. The Lynx d'Édouard-Montpetit advance to the national final scheduled for Saturday at 4 p.m.
