Top-ranked Mariners welcome a Blues team looking for its first points of the campaign
NANAIMO – The VIU Mariners ascended to the top spot in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association's national rankings this week and can't afford a letdown against a Capilano Blues squad looking for its first win of the season.

These games mark the first time PACWEST regular season games have been held at Centennial Park.

Head-To-Head
The Mariners defeated the Blues 5-2 in their lone matchup of the season so far. Courtney Ingram scored two goals to pace VIU while goalkeeper Brooke Ingram earned the win.
After this weekend, the Mariners and Blues will match up one more time in the regular season: Saturday, October 18 at Capilano's Squamish campus.

Capilano: Kianna Sardari scored both Capilano goals in their game versus the Mariners. She was named Capilano's women's soccer athlete of the week.
VIU: Jada Kamerman, VIU's women's soccer athlete of the week, was a threat for VIU throughout last weekend and scored a powerful goal in the win over Capilano. Mary Nicholls scored another incredible goal from long range in a win over Langara on September 14.
